At Barton Clough, we follow the Kapow scheme of work, which supports pupils in meeting the National Curriculum goals by the end of Key Stage 2. The Kapow French scheme is thoughtfully designed around three key areas: phonics, vocabulary, and grammar, with knowledge building step by step throughout the units. Each week, we dedicate 30 minutes to these lessons, ensuring that important vocabulary and skills are revisited regularly and expanded upon as the children progress.
We are passionate about helping our pupils develop a love for learning languages and an appreciation for other cultures. Our goal is to build their confidence in communicating in French, both in writing and speaking, through fun and practical activities. We ensure inclusivity for pupils with Special Educational Needs by offering tailored support and resources to meet diverse learning needs. Our goal is to make learning accessible and engaging for all. A key focus of our approach is to strengthen vocabulary through engaging and interactive lessons. Alongside language skills, we also introduce children to the richness of French culture, helping them grow into globally aware and well-rounded individuals.
Throughout Key Stage 2, our pupils embark on an exciting journey of learning to speak French while also cultivating a genuine enthusiasm for the language and its culture. Our curriculum encourages curiosity and cultural appreciation that go beyond the classroom, helping to shape pupils into open-minded and culturally aware individuals. By the end of their time with us, they will have gained not only language skills but also a broader perspective of the world, ready to embrace our global community with confidence and excitement.
