Reception

Hello and welcome to Reception!

Hello and Welcome to Reception! We’re so excited to welcome you and your child to our Reception class! The Reception team is made up of Mrs Ahmed and Mrs Kelly, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, exploring, and growing together.

During the Reception year, children are given lots of exciting opportunities to learn through play. Each day brings something new, with a wide variety of engaging activities taking place in both our indoor and outdoor learning environments. We provide a range of enriching experiences and carefully monitor the progress of each child.

There is a balanced mix of child-initiated play and planned, adult-led activities throughout the day. Our outdoor area is considered an extension of the classroom, offering the same rich learning opportunities as the indoor space.

By offering a wide range of open-ended, hands-on experiences, we support children’s development across the seven areas of learning:

Prime Areas of Learning: Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development and Physical Development.

Specific Areas of Learning: Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.

Important Information Snacks – All children have access to fruit and milk daily.

Clothing – Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day, as we go outside in all conditions – hats, coats, scarves, etc. Children are welcome to bring wellies and/or waterproofs, which can be kept in school. All clothing must be clearly labelled.

PE – Every Monday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on this day.

Forest School – Every Thursday. Your child will need wellies and a waterproof coat for these sessions. The school does have spare sets available, but you’re welcome to provide your own if you prefer.

Facebook – Don’t forget to check our school Facebook page for weekly updates and lovely photos of what we’ve been up to in class! Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

We hope you find this information helpful. If you have any questions, queries, or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us via Class Dojo.

We can’t wait to see all the amazing things your child will achieve this year!
